In dead last place on the final day of August, the 1973 New York Mets embraced Tug McGraw’s cries of “Ya gotta believe” and somehow won their division, the National League pennant and found themselves in Game 7 of the World Series. The valiant run ended up just short of miraculous, however, as the Oakland A’s defended their 1972 title with a 5-2 World Series Game 7 triumph to spoil both the Mets’ improbable charge and the farewell of 42-year-old veteran Willie Mays. Graded EX 5 by PSA, this full ticket was issued at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum for that winner-take-all contest and Mays swan song. With printed seating/event details and a colorful Charlie Finley-inspired “Mule” logo, the voucher presents beautifully. One of two at the grading level with only two better.
